History and Development

St. Mary’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Karavoor in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Punalur. The first community of this parish was formed in 1940 by the mission work of Rev. Fr. Alexander Valiyaveettil. This Parish was established by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios. This Parish was rebuilt in1981 during the time of Rev. Fr. Joseph Puthenkalam. It was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. The new church was built during the time of Rev. Fr. Thomas Kuttiyil on 3^rd March 2018 and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
