Syro Malankara Catholic Church in Ireland

The “Servant of God” Archbishop Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, who visited Dublin, Ireland, in 1932, the year of the Eucharistic Congress, soon after his reunion to the Catholic Church. He may had a great dream, that the Syro - Malankara Catholic Church would reach this part of Europe in the future.

After 2004 many people, especially nurses from Kerala, migrated to Ireland in search of a better livelihood for themselves and their families. Later on they gathered together for various cultural programmes and Church Services, conducted by Syro-Malabar Church and Malayalee Associations. Eventually, Malankara Syrian Catholic gatherings were organized under the leadership of our people from various Dioceses. 

His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, together with a few Bishops and Priests, visited the Syro - Malankara Catholic Church in Dublin and celebrated Holy Qurbono. Reverend Father Daniel Kulangara, the Coordinator of the United Kingdom Syro - Malankara Catholic Community, celebrated Holy Qurbono on a regular basis in Clonee. 

 In December 2012, Rev. Fr. Abraham Pathackal George was appointed Chaplain to the Syro - Malankara Catholic Community and Curate of the Parishes of Neilstown and Rowlagh / Quarryvale located in Clondalkin, Dublin 22. 

Currently there are 50 Malankara Catholic families in various parts of Ireland, 40 of whom are living in and around the Dublin area. We also have five students who belong to our Community. Every Sunday at 2:30 pm we celebrate Holy Qurbono in the Rowlagh/ Quarryvale Church. Special attention is given to the teaching of Catechism to the children and youth of our Community. We also foster all our Pious Associations. 

Most of the people participate in our St. Jude Prayer Services every month.

On 27, 28 March 2018, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Yoohanon Mar Theodosius, the Apostolic Visitator to Europe and Oceania visited the Syro - Malankara Catholic Community in Ireland and celebrated Holy Qurbono for them.
