History and Development

St. John’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Puthusseri bhagam in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Adoor.  The first community of this parish was formed in 1948. This Parish was established in 1948 and was blessed by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios.  Rev. Fr. Mathew Kompanal was the first vicar.  A new church was built and was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios on 10^th February 1968. The church was renovated and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis on 6^th May 2012. Most Rev. Yoohanon Mar Theodosius is from this parish.
