History and Development

St. Joseph’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Punalur in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Punalur.The first community of this parish was formed in 1956 by the mission work of Rev. Fr. Alexander Valiyaveettil and was blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. The new church building is under process. The Foundation Stone was laid on 10^th December 2017 by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis. The new church was blessed on 7-12-2019 by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
