History and Development

St.Mary’s Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Kariyavattom in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Kazhakoottam. The First community of this Parish was formed in 1961. This Parish was established in 1961 and blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. Rev. Fr. Mathai Malancharuvil was the First Vicar. Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios jubilee memorial LP School was built on 24th August 1994  and blessed by Benedict Mar Gregorios. A new shrine in the name of blessed MARY mother of GOD was built on 11^th September 1998 and blessed by Joshua Mar Ignathios .
