History and Development

St.Thomas Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Pothencode in the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum belongs to the Ecclesiastical district of Kazhakoottam. The First community of this Parish was formed in 1949. This Parish was established in 1949 and blessed by Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. Rev. Fr. Mathew Ezhanikkal was the First Vicar. A new church was built on 13 th june 2009 during the time of Rev.Fr.John Vilayil and blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis.
