Unity Sisters (AMU)

ASSOCIATION OF MISSIONARIES OF UNITY
The missionaries of unity seek to live the charism of keeping Jesus in their midst by constantly living the commandment of love and work for the unity and integral development of people, especially of the poorest and marginalized members of the society. Their special apostolate is to dedicate themselves to the development of the spiritual and vocational skills of children and youths, especially of those who hail from the poorest families and sections of the society. They derive inspiration from the vision and life of Mar Ivanios, the servant of God, and commit themselves to the task of new evangelization by offering formation programs for children, youths and their parents. They also engage themselves in dialogue of life with Christians of all denominations and with people of other faiths and convictions in view of realizing the life-goal of Jesus that “all may be one”. The sisters live the spirituality of communion and work in collaboration with priests and lay missionaries who are dedicated to the same goal and live the same charism.

BASILIAN SISTERS (Daughters of St. Macrina)
PALIEKKARA, THIRUVALLA –689101
PH: 0469-2706218
E-mail:basiliansisters@gmail.com

The congregation of Besilian sisters “Daughters of St. Macrina’ is a catholic religious order for women in the Baziantain rite, founded on 8th July 1921 in Mezzojuso (Italy) by the servant of God Mother Macrina Raparelli and Fr Nilo Borgio. The congregation was approved by Pope Benedict XV on the 8 July 1921 and Pope blessed the Congregation with this words “congregation is not just a need but it is very essential to the Church”.
The Basilian Sisters, finding inspiration in the spirituality of the Oriental Saint Fathers, live their life with Gospel, in special way they observe the virtue of Faith, Love, Sacrifice, Simplicity and Humility. Their donation to God in the double mission: Contemplative and Active. The charism of the congregation is unity of the church. The congregation wants to live and to promote the charity of God, with prayer, testimony and the apostleship.

This congregation came to India in 1992. The congregation opened its first convent at Thiruvalla in Kerala in 1992.  The apostolic activities of the congregation in India include teaching catechism, family visit, working among the poor and the needy and education. At present, this convent is a formation center for sisters. There are now 21 Indian sisters in the congregation. Some of them working in Italy, Andra Pradesh and others are working here.

Inspired by the firm belief of our founder, India’s future is her enlightened children, the congregation started a public School in Thiruvalla named Basilian Public School (CBSE) in 2002. The motto of the school is “Love and Wisdom”. This school caters to the educational aspirations of people of this region from kindergarten to higher classes. The general aim of this school is academic excellence, integrated personality development of children and character formation. Therefore greater emphasis is given for the mental, spiritual and physical growth of the child.

SALESIAN SISTERS OF DON BOSCO (FMA)
DIREZIONE GENERALE ISTITUTO FIGLIE DI MARIA AUSILIATRICE
VIA DELL’ ATENEO SALESIANO, 81, 00139 ROMA
E-mail - fmasegreteria@cgfma.org

The Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians known as Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco has its origin in the heart and mind of St. John Bosco, our Founder and in the creative fidelity with which St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello, our Co-foundress and her sisters assumed the project he intended, a living monument of gratitude to God and to his Madonna. Their deep communion with God and readiness to learn from Mary our Blessed Mother, made them attentive and sensitive to the cry for help of poor young people. On August  5th, 1872, the first group of young women, following the example of Mary, in declaring their Yes to God’s Call, committed themselves to be helpers of young people. The heart of our mission is our commitment to education.

In the steps of Don Bosco and of St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello we dedicate ourselves to the young people who are poorest, that is, to those who for various reasons have less possibilities of success and are therefore exposed to danger. We follow the educative system of Don Bosco based on reason, religion and loving kindness. At present, there are: 83 Provinces in 94 nations within the 5 continents, with a total of 1408 local communities. The Generalate is in Rome.

Date of Establishment: 27-12-1980
The Sacred Heart Congregation for women is a community of love which took shape in the Syro-Malabar Church in Kerala by the infinite providence of God. At the beginning of the 20th century, the church in Kerala felt the lack of religious congregation for women which provided opportunity for the common for a dedicated life and for the care of the orphans. The miserable conditions of neglected children and the aged destitute touched Rev. Fr Mathew Kadalikkattil who was the assistant vicar of the Cathedral, Pala during the first decade of the 20th century. He was a fervent devotee of the   Sacred Heart of Jesus and a man of compassionate heart. He spent days and nights before the Blessed Sacrament. Seeking his divine will and divine inspiration that came to him marked the beginning of the Sacred Heart Congregation. The aim of the Congregation is that the members should live radically the discipleship of Christ, experiencing deeply the compassionate love of God, the father, manifested through the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and sharing it with others, especially the poor and afflicted.

The Congregation was founded on 1 January 1911 with four members in a temporary modest house at Pala by the Servant of God Fr Mathew Kadalikkattil. At first the communities in different eparchies considered themselves autonomous. In 1974 the Mother Generals of these independent units of Pala, Changanassery and Kothamangalam inspired by the Spirit of Vatican II merged under the Superior-Generals. Proclamation of unification was made on 1 August 1974. On 11 March 1976 our Congregation was raised to the status of “Juris Pontifices” by the Holy See. The growth of the Congregation continued steadily. Today the Congregation has 11 Provinces and one Vice-Province with 3600 sisters and 450 houses in various parts of the world.
Our apostolate covers care of destitute, health care, home mission, education, social service, orphanage, schools for the mentally retarded, home for the aged and disabled, evangelization, press and publication.

We also help in the Parish work like Catechizing and Liturgical training. In all fields of our work we try to hold up and display our special charism of the overflowing compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Generalate is situated at Manganam, Kottayam. The cause of Beatification of Servant of God Fr Mathew Kadalikkttil is in progress. Mission Works in the Malankara Catholic Church
In the course of time, the congregation began to grow and the sisters were called to setrve in many parishes and the Eparchies. Reading the sign of the time, the Sacred Heart Sisters of Kothamangalam, Pala and Idukki Provinces called to extend our humble service in Syro-Malankara Major Archiepiscopal Eparchy of Thrivananthapuram. His Grace Benedict Mar Gregorios, the Arch Bishop of Thiruvananthapuram cordially invited us to the Eparchy, and the first house was opened at Bethany Hills, Nalanchira `S.H.C. Sarvodaya` on 15 January 1975.

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Imitation of Christ (SIC), called ‘Bethany Sisters’ was founded by Servant of God Mar Ivanios on 8 September 1925 in the Syrian Jacobite Church. Mar Ivanios believed that the spiritual renovation of the Malankara Jacobite Church is possible only through dedicated men and women in the Church. Being guided by the Holy Spirit, Mar Ivanios founded the Congregation as a source of spiritual force and renewal of the Malankara Syrian Church. Accompanied with the path of the founder, the first ten members of the Congregation also re-united with the Catholic Church on 22 September 1930, which was officiated by Mar Ivanios himself. Bethany, an active Congregation lays emphasis on liturgical life, as a life of prayer and contemplation. By the grace of God Almighty and the benevolence of His Excellency Cardinal Eugine Tisserant, head of the Sacred Congregation of the Oriental Churches, the SIC Congregation was raised to the Pontifical Status on 6 August 1956. In 1975, Generalate has shifted from Tiruvalla to Kalathipady, Kottayam.

The Charism of the Congregation is spiritual renewal of the Syro- Malankara Church, Reunion, Evangelization and the upliftment of women through Imitation of Christ. Now there are 819 Sisters and 19 Novices in the five Provinces of Trivandrum, Tiruvalla, Bathery, Pathanamthitta and Muvattupuzha. Our missionary activities extend to four continents Asia, Europe, America & Africa.
