Synodal Commission for Seminary Formation
The Synodal Commission for Seminary Formation gives practical expression to the concern of our Church for the training of those who are called to holy orders.
The commission is entrusted to give great attention that the way of life and government of the seminaries, minor and major, be in full harmony with the programme of priestly education and that the superiors and teachers, by the example of their life and sound doctrine, contribute their utmost to the formation of the personality of the sacred ministers.
It reviews from time to time the formation programs, especially the syllabus, and the excellence in spiritual and academic formation in the seminary, and takes care to appoint a sufficient number of teachers and non-teaching staff in the seminary.
The commission is competent to study the proposals for the erection and recognition of other ecclesiastical educational institutions before the competent authority approves.
It keeps vigil over seminaries and other ecclesiastical educational institutions that the spiritual and academic formations in them are in accordance with the Oriental Syro-Malankara Catholic traditions.
