The Synodal Commission for Theology and Publication

The Synodal Commission for Theology and Publication promotes and safeguards the doctrines on faith and morals of the Church to foster studies so that the understanding of the faith may deepen and a response in the light of faith may be given to new questions arising from the progress of the sciences or human culture.

While being open to the plurality of systems and ways of theologizing, the Commission protects and promotes Oriental Theology founded on the Word of God and liturgy in an Indian context for the Malankara Church. It helps the Catholicos and the Holy Episcopal Synod as well as individual Bishops in carrying out their office as authentic teachers and doctors of faith and in promoting the integrity of faith.

The duty of the commission is to require the books and other writings, published by the Christian faithful, to be subjected to prior examination by the competent authority. The writings and opinions should be examined carefully contrary and dangerous to true faith and the moral teachings of the Church. It reproves them in due time. It can suggest suitable remedial measures to the concerned hierarchical head to whose care the preachers and authors are subjected.
